WATER – GOMA (BRISBANE) 7 DECEMBER – 26 APRIL 2020 

When you think of Queensland summer you certainly don't think snowman. ATP CUP (BRISBANE) 3 – 12 JANUARY 2020 

This summer, Brisbane welcomes the inaugural ATP Cup, a new men's team competition featuring 24 of the world's top nations. They'll be competing in Australia over two weeks in January, with group stages to be held across Brisbane, Sydney and Perth. Brisbane will host two groups of four teams from January 3 to 8.  Each group winner will progress to Sydney for the ATP Cup finals. BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL (BRISBANE) 6 – 12 JANUARY 2020 

A summer of tennis arrives in the River City with Brisbane International – so grab your tickets for a front row seat to see who claims the title. In 2020, the Brisbane International, now a women's only tournament, joins the men's ATP Cup in bringing 10 days of electric tennis action to the Queensland Tennis Centre. THE STAR GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS CARNIVAL: 3 – 14 JANUARY 2020 

All that glitters is Gold Coast during Magic Millions.  For 10 magnificent days in January, this beach-side city transforms into a world of glitz and glam as it plays host to the most prestigious horse racing carnival in Queensland.  Don your most fabulous outfit and kick off celebrations with the Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo on Sunday 5 January. PACIFIC FAIR MAGIC MILLIONS POLO (GOLD COAST) 5 JANUARY 2020 

The 2020 The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival is a week-long celebration of all things equine.  Before the on-track action begins, the carnival kicks off with the Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo at Doug Jennings Park, Main Beach.  High-action polo, picturesque surrounds and a cheeky cocktail (or two) make for the perfect summer afternoon. WHITSUNDAYS CLIPPER RACE CARNIVAL (WHITSUNDAYS) 11 – 18 JANUARY 2020 

The Whitsundays will once again come alive with festivities and fun when the world's most wondrous sailing event arrives, for the Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival in January 2020.  Airlie Beach will host the eleven identical 70-foot ocean racing yachts, their skippers and their international crew and supporters in the final stop of the Australian leg of the internationally renowned and spectacular Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. EUROVISION – AUSTRLIA DECIDES (GOLD COAST) 7 – 8 FEBRUARY 2020

ICC WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP WARM UP (BRISBANE) 15 – 20 FEBRUARY 2020 

The ICC T20 World Cup is the flagship international T20 tournament. 2020 marks Australia's first opportunity to host the T20 World Cup and the first time T20 cricket's global showpiece women's and men's tournaments will be played as standalone events in the same host country in the same year.  Allan Border Field will host five women's warm-up matches ahead of the tournament. SAND SAFARI ARTS FESTIVAL (GOLD COAST) 14 FEBRUARY – 1 MARCH

NOOSA FESTIVAL OF SURFING (SUNSHINE COAST) 22 FEBRUARY – 1 MARCH 2020

BRISBANE CYCLING FESTIVAL (BRISBANE) 12 MARCH – 5 APRIL 2020 

Get ready for the ride of your life when the Brisbane Cycling Festival rolls back into Brisbane for 2020! AUSTRALIAN SURF LIFE SAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS (GOLD COAST) 18 – 26 APRIL 2020

2020 WORLD BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIPS (GOLD COAST) 23 MAY – 7 JUNE 2020 

Think Bowls is only for an older demographic? Maybe you've never sat green-side, beer in hand, watching as a bowl begins to pull up perilously close to the jack.  Queensland's Gold Coast continues to entrench itself as the home of Bowls in Australia, with the 2020 World Championships to be held at three Gold Coast clubs. Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale will host the two-week long tournament, with over 240 bowlers expected to take part in one of the pinnacle international events in the sport. OUTBACK QUEENSLAND MASTERS (OUTBACK) 1 JUNE – 31 JULY 2020

CAIRNS AIRPORT IRONMAN ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP CAIRNS (TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND) 7 JUNE 2020 

Ironman returns to the tropics in 2020.  With a backdrop as breath-taking as the course – there's a more than a few reasons why it's become known as IRONMAN in Paradise.  Dive headfirst into the balmy waters of one of the most beautiful beaches in Queensland for a 3.8km swim. Mary Poppins' author, Pamela Travers, was born in Maryborough and the city celebrates its link to the iconic nanny with the world's only Mary Poppins Festival.  This year's festival presents a two-week program of storytelling for all ages through all art forms.  Nannies race each other pushing prams in the great Nanny Challenge; chimney sweeps compete in the Chimney Sweep Dash while Mary Poppins characters come to life from the pages of books and mingle with the crowd. LAURA QUINKAN DANCE FESTIVAL (TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND) 3 – 5 JULY 2020 

Celebrating and continuing Aboriginal culture in Cape York, the biennial Laura Quinkan Dance Festival showcases the songs, dances and ceremonies of the First Nations people. Held in a sacred site and surrounded by some of the oldest rock art in the world, the spirit of this festival stretches back 50,000 years.  Laura is the central meeting place for people of the Cape. During the festival about 20 different communities located across Cape York come together to celebrate culture and language, and connection to land through dance.  The festival began in the early 1980s and is believed to be the longest running Aboriginal cultural festival in Australia. BIGSOUND, the Southern Hemisphere's biggest new live music festival and music conference, is returning to Brisbane's Fortitude Valley Entertainment Precinct from Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 September 2020.  It's the festival that helped uncover the likes of Gang of Youths, Flume and Courtney Barnett. AUSTRALIAN CAMP OVEN FESTIVAL 3 – 4 OCTOBER 2020 

The Australian Camp Oven Festival is a weekend of great family fun that celebrates Aussie cultural bush heritage. Kids can be part of the damper throwing or billy boiling competitions, while adults might like to try their hand at making a damper or even putting together a team for one of the friendly cooking competitions.  Visitors are encouraged to slow down and savour the country pace and choose to do as much or as little as they like, you can sit back while watching the cooking demonstrations, or enjoy the arts, crafts, and old working machinery. Enjoy some authentic camp oven food before you kick up your heels with the Saturday night entertainment. The Poet's Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings brings the best poets from afar. COOLANGATTA GOLD (GOLD COAST) 12 – 13 OCTOBER 2020 

One of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports, the Coolangatta Gold is tempting water fiends across the country to fine-tune their multi-disciplinary techniques so they can swim, run, paddle board and surf ski to salty glory in either the 21km Short Course or 41.8km Long Course.  Starting and finishing at Coolangatta (that's Cooly to the locals), the Long Course event heads all the way down to Broadbeach and back, covering some of the most beautiful stretches of coastline on the Gold Coast – all while pushing yourself to the limit. https://sls.com.au/coolangattagold/  

  

BLEDISLOE CUP (BRISBANE) 17 OCTOBER 2020

ICC MEN'S T20 WORLD CUP (BRISBANE) 18 OCTOBER – 15 NOVEMBER 2020 

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup descends on Australia in 2020.  This flagship international tournament marks Australia's first opportunity to host the T20 World Cup and the first time T20 cricket's global showpiece women's and men's tournaments will be played as standalone events in the same host country in the same year.  The men's tournament will host a double header on Saturday 31 October with Pakistan versing New Zealand in the afternoon, followed by Australia versus A1, it will be a packed day of cricket festivities.  In the Super 12 contest, England, the Cricket World Cup 2019 champions, will take on Afghanistan on 4th November. https://www.cricket.com.au/series/icc-mens-world-t20/mymMSvoUVkCtI_shMdT2GA 

   

SUPERCARS VODAFONE GOLD COAST 600 (GOLD COAST)  25 – 27 October 2020

WHITEHAVEN BEACH OCEAN SWIM (WHITSUNDAYS)  22 NOVEMBER 2020  

Gear up for the one of most picturesque ocean swims in Queensland, the Whitehaven Beach Ocean Swim.  Nestled in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, this annual 2km and 750m ocean swim meet, plus a fun 350m junior swim for children 13 years and under, is set to become as iconic as its location.  It's part of the Hamilton Island Endurance Series – which includes the Hamilton Hilly Half Marathon, Great Whitehaven Beach Run, and Hamilton Island Triathlon.  https://www.hamiltonisland.com.au/endurance-series/ocean-swim 

  

HAMILTON ISLAND TRIATHLON (WHITSUNDAYS) 21 NOVEMBER 2020

AUSTRALIAN PGA CHAMPIONSHIP (GOLD COAST) NOVEMBER 2020 – TBA 

Competing for the Joe Kirkwood Cup, Australian and International players will tee off for the Australian PGA Championship at one of the most acclaimed courses in Australia. A festival of golf the Australian PGA Championship week also includes the MyGolf Kids Day, Greg Norman Medal; the Aussie PGA is where everyone plays!  The Australian PGA Championship is the PGA flagship event in Australia; co-sanctioned by the European Tour and ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
