Venues of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™

From 4-15 April 2018 the Gold Coast will stage the XXI Commonwealth Games. The 11-day sports program will be hosted across 18 world-class competition venues located on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. In preparation for GC2018 the Queensland Government will deliver three new world-class competition venues and undertake major upgrades to a further seven venues.

This $320 million investment into sport and community infrastructure for the Commonwealth Games will generate more than 1,000 full-time equivalent jobs during design and construction phase.

GC2018- Three brand new sporting venues:

  • Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre (construction underway)
  • Coomera Indoor Sports Centre (construction underway)
  • Queensland State Velodrome (completed)

One new multi-purpose venue:

  • A new Super Stage at Oxenford Studios (construction underway)

Seven upgraded venues:

  • Carrara Stadium
  • Carrara Indoor Stadium
  • Gold Coast Aquatic Centre (completed)
  • Gold Coast Hockey Centre (completed)
  • Nerang Mountain Bike Trails (construction underway)
  • Broadbeach Bowls Club (renovation completed)
  • Belmont Shooting Centre

All facilities including a further seven venues will be fitted with temporary event overlays:

  • Southport Broadwater Parklands
  • Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre
  • Robina Stadium
  • Elanora/Currumbin Valley
  • Cairns Convention Centre
  • Townsville Convention Centre
  • Coolangatta Beach – location for Beach Volleyball competition

Venue Delivery Program

With less than 500 days to go, delivery of key infrastructure for the Commonwealth Games is on time and on budget. All new and upgraded competition venues are targeted for delivery 12 months ahead of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
